04.05.20123rd CLIB International Conference ended successfully
About 150 representatives from 10 nations met to participate in the third CLIB International Conference "Pushing the Bioeconomy by Science & Technology" on 23-24 April. They discussed how to accelerate the emerging bio-economy by partnering academic science and industrial research in order to develop sustainable processes and competitive products.
Within six sessions, topics such as "Renewable and Unsuaul Feedstocks", "BioReactions & Processing" and "BioIntermediates & Products" were addressed. 34 speakers presented their latest technological achievements and strategies for the development of the bioeconomy.
During the discussion panel on the first evening, Joanna Dupont-Inglis of EuropaBio, Ricardo Gent of DIB and Peter Jansen of the CEFIC informed about the programs which are currently developed for the 8th
EU Research Framework program "Horizon2020", which will start in 2014.
During the conference, CLIB2021 opened its South East Asia office hosted by Malaysian Biotechnology Corporation Sdn Bhd in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This is the next step in getting closer to important international partners in science and technology. “The challenges of the bio-economy require that the best partners worldwide are working together on solutions for the future. Our partners in Malaysia are important players in our bio-economy strategy,” says CLIB2021 chairman, Achim Marx.
