26.09.2012CLIB-forum & NRW-bioeconomy strategy meeting Alternative resources for the bioeconomy
“Alternative resources for the bioeconomy“, was the topic of the CLIB-forum event on 13 September 2012 at the LifeScience Center Düsseldorf. Prof. Dr. Matthias Rögner (Ruhr-Universität Bochum), Dr. Bettina Frauz (Schaumann BioEnergy) and Gabi Schock (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Abfallwirtschaft e.V.) held talks around that theme. This forum event was at the same time part of the initiative “A bioeconomy strategy for North-Rhine Westphalia”, which is supported by several departments of the NRW government. Considering the debate about availability of biomass for energetic and material utilizations in Germany and worldwide, different aspects of the topic were approached. Those included potentials for the usage of municipal wastes, as well as procedures and diversity of feedstocks for the production of biogas. Many processes for bio-based products require a hydrogen source, which at the same time could be a promising energy storage. So, possibilities for the biological production of hydrogen were also discussed.

We thank all speakers and participants of the forum and would like to thank for the interesting talks and lively discussions afterwards.
