•This is a full-time permanent position within the Scion Biopolymers and Chemicals team

Scion is a Crown Research Institute specialising in research, science and technology development for the forestry industry, wood products and wood-derived materials. We lead new technology development for renewables, bioproducts and energy and the establishment of a broader based bio-economy.

What are we looking for? We need a competent expert to assist with the growth of commercial revenue and develop partnerships with a number of commercial entities for Scion's box testing facility, paper board and plastic packaging, biodegradation and ecotoxicity facilities.

We want someone who is self-motivated with a strong and eager willingness to build and maintain long and enduring relationships with both internal and external customers. To be considered for this role, you need to have:

•Proven expertise in packaging, knowledge or experience of commercial environments and market trends
•Proven knowledge of packaging design, performance, problem solving and market requirements.
•Understanding and practical experience of general laboratory skills for operating common processing and materials/biopolymer/bioproduct characterisation equipment.
•Tertiary qualification, and a technical background with an understanding of packaging needs and requirements. Understanding of biodegradation principles and standards would be advantageous.
