16.07.2015Prof. Dr. Olaf Kruse elected as the new Scientific Director of the Center for Biotechnology (CeBiTec)
Prof. Dr. Olaf Kruse has been recently elected by the Center for Biotechnology (CeBiTec) Board as the new Scientific Director of the CeBiTec at Bielefeld University. He is succeeding Prof. Dr. Thomas Noll who stepped back to the position of a Deputy Director.

Olaf Kruse: "Over the last 17 years since its foundation in 1998, the CeBiTec has evolved into a renowned central research facility at Bielefeld University with high national and international visibility and reputation. I consider it my prior task to further strengthen the role of CeBiTec as the central biotechnological research site at Bielefeld University."

Prof Dr. Olaf Kruse is Full Professor and Chair of Algae Biotechnology & Bioenergy Group in the Faculty of Biology at Bielefeld University. His research interest is focused on the establishment of microalgae as sustainable green cell factories in biotechnology. He is co-directing the international SOLARBIOFUELS Consortium and is coordinator or partner in several national and international collaborative research projects in the areas of systems biology, bioenergy and molecular biotechnology. In 2006 he was appointed as the Head of Life, Earth & Environmental Sciences at the European Science Foundation in Strasbourg.
