05.05.20116th CeBiTec Symposium: Genome-based Microbiology - From -omics Research to Systems and Synthetic Biology

The Center for Biotechnology (CeBiTec) of Bielefeld University holds it's 6th CeBiTec Symposium entitled "Genome-based Microbiology - From -omics Research to Systems and Synthetic Biology". The conference will be held at the Center for Interdisciplinary Research (ZiF) of Bielefeld University from July 18th to 20th, 2011.

Thematically, the conferende covers the spectrum from microbial genomics and postgenomics to systems and synthetic biology. In addition, novel technological developments in next-generation high-throughput sequencing will be presented. The major topics to be addressed are:

• Genomics and Metagenomics Research
• Transcriptomics, e.g. RNA-Seq
• Proteomics/Metabolomics
• Bioinformatics Challenges
• Regulatory Networks
• Modelling and Simulation
• Synthetic Biology and Public Perception
• iGEM Competition
• Next-Generation Sequencing Technologies

The meeting will feature plenary lectures, poster presentations as well as exhibition booths of manufacturers of high-throughput sequencing machines.
