Bio Base NWE

CLIB is a partner of the EU project “Bio Base NWE” funded by the INTERREG IVB NWE program. Bio Base Europe , a member of CLIB, is the coordinator of this project. Eight partners from five European countries (Belgium, Germany, Ireland, The Netherlands and United Kingdom) are involved in this 3-years project, which kicked off in January 2013. The overall aim of Bio Base NWE is to support the development of the bio-based economy in NWE by facilitating innovation and business development by small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) and improving professional training and education for the bio-based economy.

Innovation coupons are an important tool of the Bio Base NWE project. These up-to-€30.000 innovation coupons provide Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) with access to the facilities of Bio Base Europe Pilot Plant, an independent and flexible state-of-the-art pilot plant for biobased technologies. This allows your business to assess the feasibility of taking a bio-based idea or a technology into industrial production.

Roundtable discussions bringing together stakeholders (policy makers, researchers, companies, end-users, consumer organizations, civil society) in the biobased economy will be organized in the partner regions to explore and align the different policy and development aims for the future years. The combined results roundtable meetings will be used to analyse the ‘landscape’ of the bio-economy in each partner territory: strengths and weaknesses in policies, capacities and specialisation of companies, research and knowledge centers.
BioBase NWE will make a comparative analysis of these regional results to identify synergies and complementarities among the partner regions.
